What is skin cancer?

It is an abnormal growth of cells that not only invade healthy cells, but they destroy them as well. There are two main types of skin cancers. The first type is one that begins as a small growth that gradually increases in size and damages surrounding tissue, but it doesn’t spread to other body parts. Other types, however, are more aggressive, begin as lumps and spread to other parts of the body.

Melanoma

The most serious type of skin cancer is melanoma. Melanoma usually starts a mole or birthmark that changes in size, shape, or color. Melanoma can spread quickly, so if you notice any changes to areas of your skin, it’s a good idea to seek advice from your physician.
